Paris to London by car: how it actually works
The route and timing
Your chauffeur leaves Paris northbound on the A1 and A26 — or the A16 via Amiens when traffic calls for it — and reaches the Eurotunnel terminal at Coquelles, near Calais, in about 3 hours. The car boards Le Shuttle; the crossing to Folkestone takes 35 minutes and you remain seated in the Mercedes throughout. From Folkestone, the M20 leads into London in roughly 1 h 30. Allow about 5 hours door to door; traffic around Paris and London and the wait for your crossing slot are what move that figure.
The border
Border checks take place in France, before boarding. At Coquelles you pass French exit control and then UK Border Force without leaving the car: passports are checked through the window, so every passenger needs a valid passport and whatever entry authorisation applies to their nationality. Your chauffeur books the crossing slot, plans the departure around the busiest border windows and waits with the vehicle if a queue forms. We do not promise a border time — queues vary with the season and the hour — but none of it is yours to manage.
What is included in the fixed fare
The fare confirmed at booking is the fare you pay: chauffeur and vehicle, the Eurotunnel crossing, fuel, motorway tolls, luggage and, where it applies, the London Congestion Charge. It is fixed before departure rather than counted on the clock, so waiting at the terminal for your slot is not billed on top. When driving beats the train
The Eurostar is quicker between the two stations; the car wins as soon as the stations are not where you are going. Luggage: a boot takes what a train rack will not — several cases, work equipment, a pushchair. Pets: dogs and cats travel in the vehicle, subject to UK entry rules. Groups: up to six passengers in one Mercedes V-Class, one fare. Relocations: a full load from one home to the other in a single trip. Timing: the service runs 24 hours a day; a departure after the last train is booked like any other. Door to door, the same chauffeur throughout (English-speaking on request).

The Paris to London Journey by Car
The Paris-London journey covers approximately 460 km via the A26 motorway and the Eurotunnel at Calais/Folkestone. Total travel time is around 5 hours from Paris centre, including the 35-minute tunnel crossing. Your Mercedes boards the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle at Calais and arrives in Folkestone in just over half an hour — no need to leave the vehicle.
Eurotunnel Crossing — Included in Your Fare
DRIVIGO pre-books the optimal Eurotunnel slot based on your schedule and border control wait times. The Eurotunnel crossing fee (approx. 620 €), fuel and all motorway tolls (A1, A26) are included in the fixed fare displayed at booking. Paid parking is not included (terms and conditions, art. 5.3). The price you see is the price you pay — no hidden fees. We monitor real-time Eurotunnel schedules to minimise waiting time at the terminal.
Border Controls & Customs
As a cross-Channel service, passengers need a valid passport (and visa if applicable). Your chauffeur is experienced with UK entry procedures and will guide you through the juxtaposed border controls at Calais. For pet travel, UK-specific requirements (microchip, vaccination, pet passport) must be met — inform us in advance so we handle compliance.
London Congestion Charge & ULEZ
Our Mercedes vehicles are ULEZ-compliant. The London Congestion Charge (if applicable) is included in your fare. Your chauffeur knows London traffic patterns and will choose the optimal route to your destination — whether that is Central London, Canary Wharf, Kensington or any other neighbourhood.
